I created a short series of videos for the cycling company Xtracycle, demonstrating and explaining their products to newer users. The videos were meant to be playful instructional videos that demonstrated the features and shared helpful tips for using their products.

This section shows the web and graphic design work I did for Xtracycle. The first image is the splash page for Ben Sollee, a musician who toured through the midwest by bicycle. The second is a proposed layout for Everyday Adventurers, the blog for Xtracycle’s employees.

The Loin

Web design for The Loin, a screenprinting shop in San Francisco. Site was designed to be minimal with an analog typewriter/handwritten feel. A smartphone version was developed for mobile surfing. The whole site was eventually changed to incorporate a more modular and easy to update format.

Cyclezine

Cyclezine is a blog for afficianados of bicycles. The authors sought to create content to inform and deepen their reader’s love of cycling. The blog content focuses primarily on San Francisco’s cycling scene with upcoming events, reviews, and photographs. My work was migrating the blog from a blogspot site to wordpress and modifying a theme to allow the writing and pictures to be the main focus.

HP Retail Strategy

Factor Design created a pilot program for HP’s retail presence to create a better directed shopping experience, and distinguish HP’s brand voice and look from its competitors.

As a design strategist, my responsibilities included:
-auditing retail competitors and identifying successful retail strategies
-directing the graphic designers and copywriters in creating consistent creative material
-researching the shopping experience and how to center the retail experience around the consumer’s needs

49ers

Working concepts for the 49ers 2008 campaign “Put Your Game Face On”. The ad campaign featured professional football players and ordinary people putting on eye black as a transformative process before taking things to the next level of intensity.

The ad campaign revolved around connecting the fans to the football team. Ordinary places and objects could suddenly become something more with the addition of the 49ers eye black. The hope was that the fans would feel more connected, more loyal, and more enthusiastic about the 49ers.
